Security firm Symantec has introduced new series of mobile enhancements to enable secure mobile email deployments, mobile application initiatives and Bring Your Own Device programmes.
The updates include the release of Symantec Mobile Security for Android, which protects corporate-connected Android devices from app and Internet based threats.
Symantec also offers Mobile Management for Configuration Manager which will allow enterprises to secure and manage iOS, Android and Windows Mobile devices with the integration of technology Odyssey Software acquisition.
Symantec now offers three deployment options for mobile device management (MDM) which include: a standalone MDM application, an integrated MDM with Altiris IT Management Suite from Symantec and an integrated MDM for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
The company have added, NitroDesk TouchDown, a secure email client for Android devices, to all its Mobile Management products to provide secure mobile email services, further enabling secure adoption of Android devices in the enterprise.
By providing a dedicated enterprise email client for Android devices, Symantec addresses multiple security and management issues, including separation of corporate and personal data.
Symantec Mobile Management now provides native agent based enterprise management for Windows Phone 7 devices, complementing existing support for Android and iOS.
Nukona App Center can now secure apps and data on iOS devices with FIPS 140-2 certified encryption, enabling ready iOS devices for use in government and other regulated industries, such as the financial and healthcare sectors.
Nukona App Center provides secure application and content management for iOS and Android devices and now supports apps created with third-party app frameworks, such as Appcelerator and PhoneGap.
Symantec now offers PGP Viewer for Android to provide the ability to read encrypted emails on Android devices.
The PGP Viewer for Android works in conjunction with PGP Universal Server from Symantec for user enrollment services and key management to help customers deal with compliance and data breach concerns.
