McAfee is planning to incorporate its McAfee Mobile Security software on consumer electronics manufacturer Sharp’s Android-based tablet devices.
The Sharp tablet devices would be designed for the education sector and the users will have access to McAfee Mobile Security free of charge for 30 days
McAfee Mobile Security software protects mobile devices from various security threats, safeguards against viruses, malicious applications and blocks risky sites based on McAfee SiteAdvisor technology.
The security app also enables the user to back up and restore their data and to remotely lock and wipe the device in the event of loss or theft.
The tablet device features a non-glare liquid crystal screen, an easy-to-hold pen and a learning support tool that allows for digital materials and educational movies.
It also includes an interactive classroom that encourages cooperative learning when employed with Sharp’s touch screen ‘BIG PAD.’
McAfee Japan president Jean-Claude Broido said the company has already worked with Sharp in the past to provide McAfee Mobile Security to users of the Sharp GALAPAGOS tablet.
"By providing our mobile security protection pre-installed on a learning device designed for the education market, we will be able to provide a safer mobile computing environment to a wider range of users," said Broido.
