SAP has collaborated with the security platform start up, Mocana, to offer a mobile application management solution to enterprise customers.

Under the partnership, the company will resell the SAP Mobile App protection (MAP) application by Mocana and will be part of the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio.

According to the company, the application is expected to allow customers to add usage and security policies to iOS and Android apps without writing any code.

The offering from the collaboration is expected to speed up deployment of secure mobile apps in regulated industries such as financial services, retail, health care and government.

Mocana CEO Adrian Turner said that the partnership with SAP helps Mocana to strengthen its position in the app market.

"Whether it’s application development, device management, scalable app distribution or now application security, SAP continues to see what matters most for enterprise mobility ahead of the rest," Turner added.

SAP’s mobile portfolio along with Mocana’s app wrapping technology will help mobile device management software SAP Afaria to deploy and manage the application to protect corporate data in an app, even the data stored outside of the enterprise.

The application will allow users to customise policies including authentication, FIPS 140-2 encryption and per-app VPN to help protect data for different users and contexts.
