The defense system will detect, prevent and liquidate the effects of computer attacks on the government’s media websites and information resources.

The Moscow Times and Itar-Tass news agency reported that FSB will develop methods for predicting threats, monitoring to determine the levels of protection of critical information systems, and render accounts for incidents related to computers.

The state security department will also extend cooperation with other state ministries and agencies to ensure effeciency of anti-terrorist cyber systems.

Recently, Kaspersky Lab detected a new malware dubbed ‘Red October’, aimed atcyber espionage for computers of government agencies.

According to the security firm, the espionage network had been seeking intelligence from Eastern European and ex-Soviet states since 2007.
