Rapid7, a provider of unified vulnerability management and penetration testing offerings, and Sourcefire, a provider of cybersecurity offerings, have announced product integration designed to deliver increased threat protection to their customers.

The Sourcefire 3D System integrates active vulnerability data from Rapid7 NeXpose Enterprise to enable efficient prioritisation of alerts and assessment of malicious intent.

Through the integration, customers can achieve effective impact analysis by leveraging vulnerability information acquired by both Rapid7’s active scanning offering, NeXpose, and Sourcefire’s awareness technologies.

Rapid7 president and CEO Mike Tuchen said their technologies have always been closely aligned and the integration of Sourcefire’s intrusion prevention system and Rapid7’s unified vulnerability management offering helps organisations focus on the threats with the greatest impact on an organisation.

Sourcefire chief technology officer Martin Roesch said for organisations with large, complex IT environments, reducing false positives and prioritising risks can significantly improve the overall security and health of a network.

"By leveraging the integrated Sourcefire and Rapid7 offerings, customers benefit from a faster and more cost-effective way to assess the impact of an attack and improve overall security posture across more applications," Roesch said.
