Here’s something interesting to ponder over whilst you have your morning coffee (or tea).
The folks over at Information is Beautiful have made this interactive infographic detailing the world’s biggest data breaches. You’re able to filter by type of organisation, and then also by type of leak, for example ‘hacked’ or ‘inside job’.
Can you spot any trends?
There seems to be a spike in 2009, especially for the US military, with gaming data breaches getting bigger over the last few years. Accidentally published data also sees a rise in recent years, but media data breaches are almost non-existent in this infographic – I guess we’re safe!
