Microsoft has introduced a new security option for users of Windows Azure cloud-based services.
The new multifactor authentication allows users to access services through an application on their mobile device, automated voice call or text message with a passcode in addition to the traditional username and password.

The Windows Azure Multi-Factor Authentication can be configured for applications including On-Premises VPNs and web applications, cloud applications like Windows Azure, Office 365, and Dynamics CRM as well as Custom Applications.
Microsoft has made the multi-factor authentication services available in two pricing options.
Earlier in Arpil, Microsoft said it would upgrade 700 million user accounts, which included rolling out of an optional two-step verification, with better security features.
The two step authentication will work with Microsoft accounts including Hotmail.com, MSN.com and Outlook.com as well as SkyDrive, Skype, Office subscriptions.
