European organisations with the strongest Operational Intelligence (OI) capability are most likely to conquer the complexity of the fastest growing IT concerns.

"Masters of Machines II", a Quocirca report commissioned by Splunk, unveiled that the industry’s security concerns are up 25% from 2013 figures.

Other concerns like data chaos and poor customer experience were also up to 22% and 21% respectively.

IT infrastructure complexity is increasing due to the growing use of cloud technology.

68% of the 400 European organisations questioned had a ‘high’ or ‘medium reliance on cross channel experience, including mobile apps, social media and machine data.

This makes the cross-channel customer experience harder to manage with an increasing amount of data coming from these channels, according to Quocirca.

Splunk added that OI can help answer IT complexity and customer experience concerns by giving management insight and an understanding into customer behaviour.

The company added that while OI helps conquer complexity, it also leads to greater concerns about IT security as those with insights into the threats they face are less complacent than those who lack such insight.

Adam Bangle, VP EMEA for Splunk said: "It is no surprise that organisations with the strongest OI capability are best equipped to deal with the complexities of the modern IT landscape."

Bob Tarzey, analyst at Quocirca said: "Supporting cross-channel experience results in growing IT complexity and greater volumes of machine data, which, if unmanaged, increases data chaos.

"However, if this data is collected and analysed it can provide better insight through improved operational intelligence, enabling those with the capability to reap the benefits: better security awareness, higher system uptime and improved customer service levels."
