M86 Security, a real-time Web and email threat protection provider, has released its M86 Web Filtering and Reporting Suite (WFR) version 4.1.

The new update features the integration of its M86 VuSafe service for schools. M86 VuSafe provides educators and students with the safe learning environment combined with powerful video resources available online. It is an easy-to-use, secure, video library enabling educators to find and share online videos from YouTube without showing inappropriate videos, advertisements, viewer comments or outside links.

With the growing demand for regulation to protect children and the importance of Acceptable Use Policies (AUP), the integration of M86 Vusafe with M86 WFR 4.1 allows educators to use the power of online video in their classrooms while assuring that students are protected from inappropriate information.

Within the first four weeks after its introduction in February, M86 has received more than 3,000 registrations from schools worldwide to use VuSafe for online video access, said the company.

The M86 WFR 4.1 includes enhanced reporting capabilities while increasing the manageability and range of information that can be processed.

M86 Web Filtering and Reporting offers fast and wide-ranging filtering capabilities that are able to filter millions of websites in hundreds of categories, blocking content that conflicts with policy or regulations.

Additionally, the offering can also block applications that are not in line with school policies and is scalable for organisations with different locations or departments, or for school districts with several schools to manage, said the company.

M86 Security vice-president of product management Werner Thalmeier said the integration of M86 VuSafe into the M86 Web Filter and Reporter 4.1 suite has been a critical enhancement for the release.

Thalmeier said, "All our Web Filter and Reporter customers will be able to maximise their M86 WFR investment with M86 VuSafe which we offer free of charge."
