Artificial intelligence is becoming a popular new weapon for cybercriminals, enabling them to launch increasingly complex attacks and deliver malware into target networks.

But while AI poses a problem for tech leaders wanting to keep their networks safe, it can also be part of the solution, with automated defence systems able to spot attacks as they happen and launch defensive protocols.

Tech Monitor news editor Matthew Gooding spoke to Max Heinemeyer, VP of cyber innovation at UK cybersecurity pioneer Darktrace, about the evolving threat landscape, how criminals are launching automated attacks and how defensive AI is becoming an important cornerstone of security plans.
