Christian Slater is set to front a year-long digital series with HP called ‘The Wolf’, designed to raise awareness of cyber security in the workplace.
The Hollywood actor channels a creepy hacker in the first six-minute episode, lurking outside offices and sending malicious emails to workers. At one point, Slater even howls. The first installment reinforces that security is no longer just the responsibility of the network or something at the perimeter, but it’s a concern for everyone.
In the series’ 30-second trailer, the Hollywood star says: “”Sheep never realize a wolf’s around until it’s too late. Then they do exactly what the wolf expects them to do. They run into each other, they fall down—they become dinner. Time to eat.”
Speaking about his involvement in the series, Christian Slater said: “Hacking is a serious and growing problem for businesses and consumers. When HP asked me to partner on this series, I thought it was a great opportunity to help educate the public about how to better protect against cyber attacks.”
The digital series is a first for HP, with four episodes planned in the year-long campaign. Each around two minutes long and directed by BAFTA and Emmy nominee Lance Acord, new chapters of ‘The Wolf’ will air throughout the year.
“As the universe of connected devices grows exponentially, so does the sophistication and magnitude of cyber attacks. Securing devices, data and identities is an imperative in driving continued confidence in technology and with whom and with what we choose to connect,” said Antonio Lucio, HP Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “HP is leading from the front to continually make meaningful progress in securing the future of computing, and The Wolf is a creative way to raise awareness of this growing challenge for companies.”
