Computer hackers published details of credit card information of thousands of Israelis, according to Reuters.

CEO of Israel’s largest card company Isracard Dov Kotler issued a statement that though a file containing 400,000 Israeli credit card numbers had appeared on the Internet, the company had found that most were incorrect or invalid.

According to Kotler, his company found that only about 14,000 of the credit card numbers listed by the hackers were valid, including 6,600 issued by Isracard.

The credit card companies reportedly blocked online purchases for the compromised cards.

However, it was not reported as to how the information was compromised.

It has been alleged that a Saudi hacker was behind the hacking, whose details were first made public on an Israeli sports site.
