Users of online retailer eBay had been reported issues in using the site after it was hit with disruption as the scheduled maintenance that took longer than expected.

Some users have reported log-in issues or hitches using the online service after they have accessed their accounts.

However, the online retailing firm said that site users were already alerted in advance that the maintenance would cause disruption.

eBay said in a statement that the work had taken longer than anticipated.

"We are sorry that intermittent problems with eBay have continued for longer than planned," the online retailer said.

"We are working hard to resolve the issue, and will provide a further update soon."

eBay is the latest site facing technical issues followed by similar problems with Google, Amazon, Apple’s iCloud and iMessage in addition to Microsoft’s Outlook.com services, among several others.

During Q1, eBay reported a 14% increase in its revenue to $3.74bn, compared to $3.27bn for the corresponding period last year.
