CellTrust, an Arizona based provider of secure mobile messaging and applications, has launched SecureSMS Appliance for the enterprise space. The company said that the enterprise appliance offers secure SMS communication between handsets and enterprise applications and handsets with end to end security that entails encrypted security standards, which will be in compliance with HIPAA, FISMA, and Sarbanes-Oxley, ensuring that information is kept private and only delivered to the intended recipient.

The company said that its offering is a ‘plug and play’ application consisting of the patent pending CellTrust SecureSMS Gateway and an appliance with a modem from Multi-Tech that transmit messages up to 10,000 messages per day .

In addition the new Appliance connects the enterprise with over 700 carriers arround the world through cell towers that reduces the costs and time associated with securing and provisioning a short code.

According to CellTrust, SecureSMS Appliance is installed in the customer’s data center, and with no internet connection necessary, it enables users to send SMS messages containing up to 5,000 characters using a carrier’s cell towers, through its SecureSMS Gateway. If connected to internet the appliance can connect to most email servers and routes emails to SecureSMS on the handset and receives response as well.

The SecureSMS Appliance manages and exchanges messages through CellTrust’s Secure Mobile Information Management platform to use the same set of APIs to send both secure and standard SMS or text messages; remotely ‘wipe’ the handset if lost or stolen; definitively measure the Return-on-Investment of the mobile channel through SSMS; and reduce overall cost of communications, the company said.

Sean Moshir, CEO and chairman of CellTrust, said: “As internet routers and gateways connect businesses to Internet, the CellTrust SecureSMS gateway appliance connects business to mobile carriers by using the cell towers, which enables them to perform secure transactions on the handset. We’re excited to launch this product as this is the first software that provides SecureSMS communications for the enterprise.”
