AT&T has launched Encrypted Mobile Voice, a new carrier-provided two factor encryption service that provides security features for calls on AT&T wireless network.
The Encrypted Mobile Voice combines KoolSpan’s TrustChip, a self-contained crypto engine inserted into the smartphone’s microSD slot, and SRA International’s One Vault Voice.
The TrustChip embedded with AT&T TrustGroup, offers strength of additional hardware authentication, enables encrypted calling interoperability with a defined group of other TrustGroup users and can be managed over-the-air.
In addition, One Vault Voice allows users to place and receive encrypted calls by integrating with the mobile phone’s standard operation and address book, the company said.
The new service supports BlackBerry smartphones and Windows Phones on the AT&T wireless network, and is not limited by availability of legacy Circuit Switched Data coverage and can operate in around 190 countries where it provides data roaming.
