Violin Memory has launched the FSP 7650 and 7450 all flash arrays, new storage systems built on the company’s Flash Storage Platform.
The key selling point is the reduction in latency; FSP 7650 offers latency of 200 microseconds at 1 million IOPS, which Violin Storage claims is a fivefold improvement upon the industry standards.
It has up to 140TB of raw capacity in a single enclosure, using only 3 rack units of space.
FSP 7450 systems can begin at 32TB effective capacity, or 8.8TB raw, and scale to 512TB effective and 140TB raw.
7450 is priced from $0.60 per GB of effective storage capacity of up to 512TB.
It has up to 0.5PB of effective capacity at 6-to-1 data reduction rates.
FSP 7450 has 340,000 IOPS with latency of 1 millisecond in fibre channel or iSCSI SAN environments.
Violin said in a statement that the launches were part of a vision “that will incorporate new technologies and introduce new products to further lower latency, enhance data mobility, and facilitate cloud integration.”
Kevin DeNuccio, President and CEO of Violin Memory, said: “This launch is all about how IT professionals can be instrumental by leveraging storage technology to enable their companies to do great things, whether that be via private, public or hybrid cloud environments.”
He said that the innovations will “fundamentally change the all flash array market, a market that Violin created ten years ago when it launched the industry’s first all flash array.”
“With this launch, customers can now leverage the industry’s only all flash storage platform that includes a full suite of tightly integrated data services, across all arrays, in a single native operating system, giving Violin Memory industry leadership in the combination of ultra-low latency, affordability, density, scalability, and performance,” said Ebrahim Abbasi, Chief Operating Officer for Violin Memory.
