Microsoft integrated Skype’s voice and video chats into Office Online and Outlook.com to enable users to chat with their contacts while working on a file.

The new update to Skype also provides audio and video integration for online versions of MS Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint.

The desktop version of Skype will have the new features in 2016.

Microsoft has recently launched video message filters in Skype for Android, iPhone and iPad.

Last month, Skype rolled out a new feature that allows users to invite those who do not have a Skype account to use the service via the Skype for Web interface.

A new Office Online extension was also added for Chrome web browser.

The new Office Offline extension will be free for all the Google Chrome users. After installation, it opens up OneDrive, OneNote, Sway and common documents such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Microsoft has reduced the footprint of the Office apps by 40% on Android. Office 365 members can use the Presenter View of PowerPoint on an Android device.

The company has reported better-than-expected financial results for the first quarter ended 30 September, due to increasing demand for its cloud products.

The company has been shifting its focus towards software and cloud services due to sluggish demand for the Windows operating system.
