Scotland’s largest commercial data centre in South Gyle, Edinburgh, is to be expanded by hosting provider Pulsant.
The colo company said it will add 150 racks to the existing 800 and build two data halls in the Tier 3 facility, incorporating direct fibre access to a wide range of service providers and carriers.
The new hub will be ISO27001, 14001 and PCI-DSS compliant, as well as part of the G-Cloud and Scottish Government frameworks.
Pulsant said it will also make use of blended evaporative and fresh air cooling technologies and on-site high voltage network to ensure 2N delivery of power to each rack.
The facility, host to Scotland’s internet exchange IX Scotland, will have a third building built on-site and configuration rooms, along with secure storage areas.

With construction expected to be completed in August 2015, the South Gyle facility is one of the ten owned by Pulsant.
