Big changes are going on at CenturyLink with the departure of two senior cloud executives.
The telecom company is losing Jared Wray, SVP, platform and application development and Jonathan King, VP of platform strategy and business development.
The company has been making a big cloud push in recent years; its acquisition of Savvis for $3.2bn four years ago and the acquisition of Orchestrate earlier this year formed part of a drive into the market.
King was heavily involved in these acquisitions; however, his departure signals a move away from public cloud infrastructure, reports a Fortune source.
Accoding to the same source, the move away from public cloud comes as the company has failed in its efforts to compete with the likes of AWS and Microsoft Azure.
The departures of King and Wray follow the departure of Andrew Higginbotham, SVP, cloud and infrastructure, in February.
A more streamlined approach to cloud product development is expected, as the company focuses more on its networking products.
