iCloud provider Apple has invested $3.6 million to buy 200 acres of land in Central Oregon following earlier plans to expand its data centre hub.
The land sits next to Apple’s $250 million data centre opened in 2012, according to Oregon news outlet The Bulletin.
Crook County chairman Michael McCabe said the company has not shared any details with the commission since it filed an application to expand its data centre operations last April.
McCabe said the application is still pending and it includes plans for two pods used to host iCloud services.
Apple’s original data centre sits in an area of 159 acres, which has now been extended to 359 acres.
