IBM has added three new services to its Bluemix platform to help organisations speed up data migration to the cloud.
The company said the services will fuel faster cloud adoption and build a foundation for data-driven decisions.
IBM is rolling out Decision Optimization on Cloud in beta on Bluemix.
The service takes large portions of data including predictions, master and transactional data, business goals, and business rules to prioritise business decisions such as plans and schedules.
It includes the CPLEX Optimizer Engines and can run as a standalone. A user can also embed it in applications using a Rest API or use it from the Data Science Experience Notebooks.
The second service, Bluemix Lift, is a data migration tool for the Watson Data Platform.
It encrypts the data being transferred and can transfer information at up to 225 GB per hour, which IBM says is 10 times faster than traditional offerings.
IBM Bluemix Lift is designed to reduce downtime, allowing applications using the source database to run through the migration process.
The company noted that the data transfer will continue even during an outage or connectivity loss.
The third service, IBM dashDB for Transactions is a fully-managed SQL database service on Bluemix. It is optimised for transactional and web workloads, helping developers fuel new cloud-based applications.
It offers high availability on selected plans, as well as pay-per-use units.
IBM Watson Data Platform vice president John Murphy said: “Cloud is the platform that enables cognitive intelligence.
“We’re continuing to grow our catalog of cloud data services on Bluemix so that we can help developers and data scientists better manage and more quickly interpret data for business innovation.”
