Companies moving onto cloud are facing connectivity-limited options, due to variables such as application traffic, geography, and data centre and end user location.

Scenarios for aligning an enterprise’s connectivity to its cloud strategy, include the creation of a cloud sandbox for developers and the need to tie all production tiers in a single cloud region to back-end resources.

Moreover, enterprises will have to build a portion of the tiers in the cloud and a portion at a data centre as well as connecting all the business resources.

Microsoft, Google, and Amazon offered dedicated, private, high-throughput network ports through which costumers could connect a fibre cable from their facility.

"Businesses can leverage cross-connect infrastructure services such as Equinix Cloud Exchange to not only get physical connections to their preferred IaaS but also additional benefits by connecting to other clouds, such as SaaS providers, without extra resources," said the report.

Tony Bishop, Vice President, Global Enterprise Vertical Strategy & Marketing for Equinix, explained in a blog post, that the Equinix Cloud Exchange solution allowed businesses to simultaneous connect between multiple cloud providers.
