As enterprises shift towards the cloud, Equinix has added AWS Direct Connect availability to two more of its global data centres.
With the addition of London and Dallas, US, companies sitting in the hubs can connect their privately owned and managed infrastructure directly to AWS.
The solution establishes a private connection to the AWS Cloud for reduced costs, increased throughput, and consistent application performance.
London has become the colo’s second European location to offer the service, after Frankfurt, Germany. Equinix has made available the "native" AWS Direct Connect service to customers in the capital’s LD5 data centre in Slough. This will link into the full portfolio of AWS Cloud offerings.
Previously, connectivity in London was available via tether from Equinix in London into AWS’s Dublin facilities.
Ryan Mallory, technology VP at Equinix, said: "AWS Direct Connect makes it easy for companies to establish a dedicated network connection from Equinix to AWS, which ultimately reduces network costs, increases throughput, and provides a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections."
Equinix has now ten data centres around the world with AWS Direct Connect availability, including Dallas, Frankfurt, London, Osaka, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia.
