Cisco and Deutsche Telekom have launched new Intercloud-based services for business customers.
Announced at CeBIT 2015, the first offering built on the platform is Infrastructure as a Service, which allows the transition of virtualised workloads to the cloud.
The service includes standardised APIs, open standards, virtualisation and application policy libraries. This will facilitate workload mobility between private enterprise clouds, Deutsche Telekom’s virtual private clouds, public cloud infrastructures and the Intercloud node.
In addition, the service is based on the OpenStack industry standard and emphasises a high degree of compliance with data protection laws.
Both parties are currently working to build the infrastructure for an Intercloud node in Deutsche Telekom‘s data centres in Magdeburg and Biere.
Also slated to appear on Intercloud are a Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Cloud applications enabling the Internet of Everything (IoE), collaboration, cloud-based virtual managed services and cloud-based systems management solutions will be given special focus.
The Intercloud collaboration between the two partners was first announced in September 2014.
