Box has released Box for Office Online, a deep integration with Microsoft Office Online.

Users will be able to work on Office Online files directly through Box and save changes directly to Box, removing the need to upload or download files.

The solution comes with full editing capabilities, as well as a share button to allow easier collaboration. Users will be able to work through a web browser without having to install any software.

The news came in the wake of Box‘s recent announcement that it had joined the Office 365 Cloud Storage Partner Program.

The companies will further their collaboration later this year on integrations with native Office clients on iOS, Android, and Windows.

"Box and Microsoft are working together to help businesses and individuals be more productive, collaborative and successful," said Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for Office at Microsoft.

"We’re thrilled about this latest offering to give our joint customers more choice and simplicity for how they work together with documents and digital content."

"The new model for enterprise productivity depends on creating seamless, device agnostic connections between the core applications that people use to get work done," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO, Box.

Levie added: "Over a billion people around the world use Office for creating content – this makes Microsoft a crucial partner for Box as we progress on our mission to transform the way people and businesses work."
