Startup 2lemetry has been bought by American online retailer Amazon. The company offers a system for sending, receiving and analysing data originated by the IoT, VenturaBeat today reported.

Amazon is yet to reveal the full agreement and the financial impact to the company.

2lemetry will give Amazon "actionable insights" for interconnected-devices. As it stands, if a customer uses NFC beacons in its store then shelves can report on stocking levels by themselves, or sensors can measure the amount of liquids left in some sort of container or pipeline. All the data generated by these devices will need to be processed and delivered, something that Amazon’s latest acquisition will be able to do.

With this new system, the American giant will offer business owners the ability to organise their shopfloors better by displaying the right products on the right shelves at the right time of the day, the month or even the year.

The not so small start-up already had secured nearly £2.7 million in funding from Salesforce Ventures this year alone, supporting building custom applications on top of Salesforce’s Heroku platform and others.

2lemetry also works with Honeywell and Demeter energy group.

In 2014, the start-up introduced the 2lemetry Integrate to Salesforce AppExchange app store, enabling companies to work with data produced on devices using Salesforce.

The company is based in Denver, US and was member of the Industry group AllSeen Alliance.
