Yahoo is in talks to acquire online-video service provider News Distribution Network (NDN) in deal worth $300m.

The transaction is expected to help the company grab a share in the video streaming market, which is currently dominated by Google’s YouTube.

Yahoo hopes the buyout of NDN, which provides videos about news, sports and politics to publishers, will expand its video offering and earn revenue from video views and ads.

NDN spokeswoman Krystal Olivieri told the Wall Street Journal: "We are not in talks to get acquired by Yahoo at this time."

Yahoo has been trying to take over NDN, since 2012, but no deal was finalised between the companies yet.

Founded in 2007 by Greg Peters, NDN currently has a collection of over 100,000 videos from partners like local TV news stations.
