Wireless networking firm Xirrus has released new Wi-Fi Designer application which provides criteria-based design for planning wireless networks that match the signal level and band (5GHz/2.4GHz) requirements of mobile devices such as iPads, laptops and smart phones.
Wi-Fi Designer also provides wireless coverage and application performance needs, the critical factors in ensuring user experience goals are being met.
It improves the accuracy and simplifies the surveying process, giving Xirrus partners visibility of the design whether it passes or fails pre-determined criteria and user expectations.
The new release will help organisations complete Active Surveys with Xirrus Wireless Arrays taking real-time measurements to qualify the design for the Xirrus implementation.
Organisations can now predictively plan a Wi-Fi network strategy with the optimal number of Xirrus Wireless Arrays and their recommended placement.
The Wi-Fi Designer will help organisations to model different site conditions, Array configurations and positioning options to visualize impact to RF coverage and capacity. It also will enable organisations validate post-installation capacity and coverage against an initial plan.
Xirrus Product Management director Tim Thornton said, "Wi-Fi Designer combines the benefits of both active and predictive site surveys into a single application, enabling better planning and implementation of Xirrus Array-based wireless networks regardless of size and complexity."
