Tempe, Arizona-based WavePhore Inc and Channel America are to to form a new wireless high-speed multimedia data service network that will use WavePhore’s TVT1/4 System and Channel America’s North American footprint of about 87 affiliate television stations. WavePhore will take advantage of pacts already in place for distributing video signals via satellite and affiliate television stations across the US. The new wireless service, called the Information Skyway, will be available to content providers during the first half the year. WavePhore is currently negotiating with broadcasting firms to create components of a worldwide Information Skyway Service Network which will be established in phases.
