Skokie, Illinois-based US Robotics Inc has unveiled a new version of its Total Control Enterprise Network Hub. The new offering, Enterprise Network Hub/6, features a six-slot chassis and is aimed at organisations that don’t require the full 16 slots of its big brother. However, it shares a common architecture, consisting of a 1Gbps midplane and circuit- and packet-switched buses, with its sibling. The six-slot chassis can be used with any current Total Control modem and gateway boards, including Ethernet, Token Ring and X25 interfaces, quad modem boards, T-1 and fractional T-1 devices and LAN Access server boards, says the company. The product also includes SNMP management capabilities for local or remote management from Robotics’ Total Control manager, or systems such as Hewlett-Packard Co’s OpenView, SunNet Manager and NetView 6000. The product is shipping now; no prices yet.
