Unisys’s UK subsidiary has snapped up three contracts from Ipswich, Loughborough and Dudley building societies to provide its latest software as a service (SaaS) solution.

The ten-year contracts will see Unisys migrate account and consumer data from the societies’ existing IT suppliers to the same platform.

The SaaS system will manage mortgage and savings accounts and support branch and call centre operations, CRM, data warehousing capabilities and backup solutions for the data centre.

Unisys, which holds 40% of the UK mortgage processing market, said having core systems on the same platform will also give the building societies the opportunity for shared working and economies of scale.

"Regional building societies do not tend to compete in their local areas so when a group make similar decisions as they have done here with Unisys, they can potentially achieve economies of scale should they choose to work together. This shared service working is much harder to achieve when different core systems are used," said Steve O’Loughlin, sales director at Unisys UK.

Unisys released its Stealth for Mobile solution that addresses security concerns facing businesses in November 2013.
