Designers working in the new media have been invited to compete for part of a 2m British pound awards scheme. The UK government-backed scheme aims to improve the innovation in multimedia and give a leg-up to aspiring creatives, reports Media Design Week. Winners of The Information Society Creativity Awards will be announced next February. The Awards have been set up to help companies bring innovative ideas for digital products and applications to the market. UK Technology minister Ian Taylor said The ISCAs will be welcome news for the myriad small, often home-based design companies competing for work in the new media, by helping them fund cherished flagship projects. The awards, each worth up to 50,000 pounds, are aimed at businesses with fewer than 250 staff. A Student New Media Award is open to students and recent graduates. The Awards are part of the Information Society Initiative, a four-year 35m pound Department of Trade & Industry program.
