After an unhappy run of losses at the Cambridge, Massachusetts firm, a boardroom bust-up has resulted in the top two officers at artificial intelligence hardware specialist Symbolics Inc, handing in their resignations, although Russell Noftsker will remain as non-executive chairman, resigning only the post of chief executive. After disputing the current direction of the company, Brian Sear resigned all his posts – president, chief operating officer and a director. Noftsker resigned his executive posts over organisational disagreements. The board says that it will begin an immediate search for a candidate to fill the single position of president and chief executive, and until it is filled, the responsibilities of the president/chief operating officer will be carried out by a new office of the president, consisting of Ronald Derry, John Kulp, Thomas Farb and Donald Sundue. Two other board members, Drs Henry Morgan and Calvin Pava, will also help out at the office of the president.
