The System 7 release of the operating system environment for the Macintosh is having an elephantine gestation, but Apple Computer Inc says that it will ship the near-final version to 13,000 Macintosh computer hardware and software developers, later this week: it reckons that System 7 is Apple’s most significant enhancement to the Mac since it was introduced in 1984.
