Farmington, Connecticut-based Telepartner International Inc has announced Version 2.3 of its electronic distribution software, Synchrony. Synchrony is targeted at large organisations needing to manage business-critical applications and data across personal computers and networks to mainframes. The new version has local area network server and workstation components that provide network independence for MS-DOS personal computer users not needing to communicate directly with mainframes; an automated, unattended scheduling program that controls and distributes functions without input from workstation users; and an asset management function enabling administrators to monitor their organisation’s software and hardware configurations. The system supports the following environments: MS-DOS, Windows and OS/2; Microsoft LAN Manager, Novell Inc NetWare, Banyan Systems Inc Vines, 3Com Corp 3Net, and Ethernet; MVS VTAM; Logical Unit 6.2, Logical Unit 2, Asynchronous and X.25. It costs ?75 per personal computer; ?30,000 for the mainframe version and ?3,500 for the network server. It is available now from Telepartner and its distributor network. A totally independent local network-based product is promised for the first quarter of 1993.
