French open source integration and data quality firm Talend has taken the wraps off Talend Cloud, which it says is a unified integration platform for cloud and hybrid IT environments.
While it’s really an extension of its recently announced Unified Integration Platform, what’s clear is that it hasn’t taken the firm long to integrate the Sopera ESB it acquired towards the end of last year.
Talend Cloud is claimed to provide deployment flexibility for all of Talend’s technologies within the Unified Integration Platform. These include data integration, data quality, master data management and, thanks to Sopera, an enterprise service bus. All components can be installed in the cloud, on premise, or in hybrid mode, and ensure the overall orchestration and integrity of integration processes, according to the firm.

"Although cloud has become ubiquitous in today’s IT deployments, many organisations are still trying to determine how to function in hybrid environments," said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend. "At the same time, the data deluge is continuing and these same organisations are struggling to properly manage and integrate this information and the multiple systems that store and process it. Using Talend Cloud, customers can address these issues within a single platform that addresses a broad range of integration needs and technologies, ranging from data-oriented services to data quality and master data management, via a unified environment and a flexible deployment model."
In Talend’s press release they quoted Ted Friedman, vice president distinguished analyst at Gartner, who said: "Though demand for cloud computing is on the rise, organisations are rarely seeking to operate exclusively in the cloud, choosing instead a hybrid model in which cloud applications run alongside their on-premise IT infrastructures. What often gets overlooked is the need for integration as part of these hybrid clouds, sharing data as required to support the business processes which span on-premises and cloud-based applications and data stores."
Talend Cloud provides deployment on cloud platforms such as Amazon EC2, Cloud.com and Eucalyptus. Also included in Talend Cloud is the addition of new connectors to the likes of Salesforce.com, NetSuite, SugarCRM, BIRT OnDemand, Marketo, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Database.com, Hadoop, Google Applications, Google Analytics and Twitter.
