Sybase Inc has announced the general availability of QuickStart MediaMart, a multimedia content management system and a new member of the Adaptive Server Enterprise 11.5 suite, intended to handle high volumes of multimedia data for applications in web and client/server environments. The product suite is the result of work done with its partner Network Imaging Corp, which produces multimedia content and storage management software. QuickSmart MediaMart includes Sybase’s Adaptive Server Enterprise 11.5 optimized for mixed workload online transaction processing and decision support environments, along with Hearndon, Virginia- based Network Imaging’s 1View:ObjectManager for adding multimedia to legacy and client-server applications. It is intended to offer customers the ability to create, retrieve and update multimedia data records such as text, image, audio and video in high transaction internet, intranet or corporate data repository environments. The product is available now at $50,000 for 10 concurrent users on Sun Solaris or $40,000 for 10 concurrent users on Windows NT. Sybase has also announced the beta release of its Adaptive Server Anywhere 6.0 database management system optimized for mobile and workgroup computing, with additional support for Java and JavaBeans.
