Server, storage and network equipment provider Quanta QCT has introduced STRATOS S910-X31B, a new micro server powered by the Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 and Intel Xeon E3-1200 v2 product family.
S910-X31B with its multi-node architecture, enhances the power efficiency and system cooling compared to conventional single node designs by sharing common components such as fans and the power supply.
The new micro server will come in standard 3U rackmount with options of nine to twelve sleds.
The nine sled system can support all Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 and Intel Xeon E3-1200 v2 product family SKUs up to the maximum 95W while the twelve-sled systems can support all Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v2 product family SKUs up to 69W with four cores at 3.6 Ghz speed.
Quanta QCT’s new micro server includes an internal Ethernet switching board that offers flexibility of joining each sled’s network into a dual 10 Gb SFP+ external port.
S910-X31B also includes a total management solution that requires attaching only one network cable in order to manage all sleds, simplifying remote management. It has four times the computing density of three traditional one-socket 1U servers stacked together, the company claims.
The new server is optimised for the applications of dedicated hosting, front-end web, content delivery networks and cloud computing applications.
The STRATOS S910-X31B micro server are expected available in the US through channel partners in Q3 2012.
