Telecommunications services provider Otelco Mid-Missouri has deployed next-generation networking offerings ADTRAN’s Optical Networking Edge (ONE) offering to leverage its existing Total Access 5000 network infrastructure.
Otelco has chosen ADTRAN to deliver an offering that would provide the scalability needed to support mobile backhaul applications for 3G and 4G mobile access services without the need for overlay network builds on top of their existing voice and data services.
With ADTRAN’s ONE offering, Otelco can address both the growing mobile backhaul and residential broadband markets from a single offering without compromising on quality of service across either set of applications.
ONE and ADTRAN’s Advanced Operational Environment (AOE) with ServiceMonitor allow Otelco to utilise the web-based SLA monitoring tool and cell-optimised wavelength service capabilities to ensure appropriate separation and provision of each type of traffic as needed.
ADTRAN Service Provider Sales regional vice president Mitch Fleming said ADTRAN knows that service providers are constantly faced with the challenge of scaling the network to offer multiple, high-end services in order to grow their business opportunity.
"With ADTRAN’s ONE solution, service providers like Otelco now have access to a single vendor and architecture for blending broadband, business and backhaul services," said Fleming.
Otelco Mid-Missouri network manager Terry Schupp said mobile backhaul represents a huge market opportunity for Otelco moving forward, but Otelco needed to be sure that the quality of service would not be negatively impacted for its existing customers.
"With the ONE solution, we can not only deliver service isolation for each individual mobile network operator that may share a single cell site, but can do so in conjunction with our existing broadband services and know that the service level will remain high," said Schupp.
