Oracle has delivered a complete refresh of its SPARC enterprise server product line and has unveiled SPARC Solaris-based Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B.

The SPARC Solaris-based Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B engineered system is an integrated hardware and software system tested and tuned by the company to run Java and non-Java applications with extreme performance.

The SPARC Solaris-Based Exalogic Elastic Cloud System is designed for large-scale, mission-critical deployments, and consists tested hardware and software system that run Java and non-Java applications with extreme performance.

The Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B combines SPARC servers running Solaris 11 Express with InfiniBand-based I/O fabric, the WebLogic Server and other enterprise Java-based Oracle middleware products.

The new Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B supports thousands of Java and non-Java applications; and is optimised for multi-threaded applications, enabling customers to achieve increased performance for multi-threaded enterprise Java software, such as Oracle WebLogic Server.

In addition, the Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B also provides customers with in-depth hardware analysis and helps detect hardware failures before they happen through the integration between SPARC T-Series servers running Oracle Solaris, and features Solaris Predictive Self Healing.

The machine is also optimised for integration with Database 11g, Real Application Clusters and the Exadata Database Machine.

Oracle has also unveiled the SPARC Supercluster based on SPARC T3 and M5000 servers that includes the latest hardware and software from Oracle including, built-in cryptographic accelerators, Sun FlashFire storage, InfiniBand networking and Sun ZFS Storage Appliance products.

The new SPARC Supercluster is based upon the architecture used in its new TPC-C world record, and utilises new SPARC servers, FlashFire, InfiniBand QDR, Solaris, and the ZFS Storage Appliance.

The company said that the the SPARC Supercluster will be available in T3-2, T3-4 and M5000-based configurations and each configuration include SPARC T3 or M5000 servers, Sun ZFS Storage 7420 servers, and Sun Network ZFS InfiniBand Gateway Switches.

The company said that by updating its SPARC T-Series and Sun SPARC Enterprise M-Series product lines, it has optimised and integrated with Solaris for reliability and scalability and increased performance for running enterprise applications.

Oracle systems executive vice president John Fowler said the company is accelerating delivery on their five-year SPARC roadmap with continued product innovation.

"With the enhanced SPARC Enterprise product family, coupled with Solaris 11 Express and the new SPARC Solaris-based Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud T3-1B, Oracle is again raising the bar to deliver the industry’s most reliable, scalable and secure offerings for mission-critical computing," Fowler said.
