Oracle has enhanced its Health Information Exchange (HIE), which is an open standards-based offering that enables healthcare organisations and government agencies to securely manage and share health data across networks.

The offering provides secure communication, system integration, enterprise master person indexing, consent management and enforcement, access auditing, a clinical data and document repository, record locator services, and terminology services enabled by Oracle Database, Fusion Middleware and Applications.

The enhanced offerings eliminates the complexity of deploying a HIE by providing a comprehensive and pre-integrated portfolio of products built on a scalable and secure infrastructure.

In addition, the offering has been enhanced to support the US Federal and global standards including: the CONNECT architecture and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise specifications.

The enhanced offering components include: Health Sciences Information Gateway; Healthcare Master Person Index; Health Sciences Information Manager; and Health Sciences Integration Engine.

Oracle health sciences senior vice president and general manager Neil de Crescenzo said the offering helps organisations in optimising the secure exchange of electronic health information with an extensible, open, suite of offerings designed to work together out of the box and running on a robust, reliable and secure technology infrastructure.
