Under the terms of the agreement, Waltham, Massachusetts-based Novell will distribute the upgraded RealPlayer for Linux when it is made available in December this year. The new version will include support for Windows Media as well as RealAudio, RealVideo, MP3 and Ogg.
Novell will also continue to distribute the Helix Banshee music player, which combines the Helix media framework with the open source Banshee music player and enables the current SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop to support MP3s and provide compatibility with Apple Computer Inc’s iPod.
