Following the shake up at Fortune Systems Corp, with the business going to SCI, and a management buy-out of the European operations taking over international marketing, many users and delears of the Fortune equipment have been unsure of their future. Nexel Ltd, now owned by the UCL Plc group, is seeking to remedy this by formally announcing that it now has exclusive marketing rights for the Fortune products throughout the UK and will continue to sell through its existing 20-strong dealer network, and vamp up its own direct sales activity. Hardware will be shipped from Fortune’s new owner SCI Systems’ manufacturing bases in the US and Far East – although there is a possibility that SCI will do some Fortune manufacturing at its plant in Scotland. All software for the systems will be supplied by the Fortune Systems International division in Monaco which has just been subject to a management buyout. Nexel claims to have sold UKP1m of Fortune systems over the last three months.
