NetManage Inc is the fastest growing company in Silicon Valley, according to Silicon Valley Network. The group, a non-profit corporation that aims to attract and foster business in the area, recently announced its latest Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50. To qualify for a placing companies must have had revenues of at least $50,000 in 1991 and at least $1m by 1995. The Fast 50 includes 40 public and 10 private companies, with combined revenues of $18bn between 1991 and 1995. NetManage, a San Jose networking management software company, has increased its sales from $427,000 in 1991 to $125.4m in 1995. Last year’s top of the league company, Network Peripherals Inc, fell to eighth place, reflecting the difficulty companies have in sustaining rapid levels of growth as they become larger. Of the 50 companies, 16 are semiconductor firms, 10 are computer and peripherals companies, and 24 fall into the category of networking, software and technology services. Other notable entries include, at number 12, configuration management software company Pure Atria Corp which grew 1,897% to $44m over five years and networking products giant Cisco Systems Inc, now at number 22, which soared 980% in size to $1.98bn.
