Cisco says that the network transformation project will provide a secure, unified platform that supports the growth of online e-banking services, facilitates expansion into new markets, and helps to deliver consistent customer service across all bank operations.
The vendor’s Self-Defending Network provides a foundation on which the bank can deliver information, applications and communications to its employees and customers.
Using this foundation, Millennium BCP will replace its various telephone systems from multiple vendors with a Cisco Unified CallManager system and 15,000 Unified IP phones at more than 900 office and branch locations in Portugal. Future plans will extend the network and communications system to 600 international branches.
Millennium BCP believes that the convergence of voice and data on a single network will support its development of multi-channel banking strategies by making it easier to provide a consistent level of service and information to customers, whether they interact through branches, phone or the internet.
