Cloudera, a provider of Apache Hadoop, is helping Mastercard comply with the Payment Card Industry’s data security standard.
The payment card provider has agreed to use the Cloudera Enterprise 5.2 platform to integrate Hadoop datasets with other environments that are PCI-certified.
It comes as Cloudera announced the analytics platform now include full PCI certification.
Gary VonderHaar, MasterCard’s CTO, said: "Data privacy and protection is a top priority for MasterCard.
"As we maximise the most advanced technologies from partners and vendors, they must meet the rigorous security standards we’ve set. With Cloudera’s commitment to the same standards, we now have additional options in how we manage our data centre."
Eddie Garcia, Cloudera’s chief security architect, Center for Security Excellence, Cloudera, added: "With enterprises looking to place more critical workloads in Hadoop, the requirements for stronger security and compliance for Big Data projects has climbed rapidly.
"We’ve met that challenge head on by raising the bar for security and compliance within regulated organisations that need to ensure high levels of protection for data."
PCI was developed by the major credit card companies in order to establish a standard set of regulations for all merchants, and vendors who transmit, process or store cardholder data.
