Just Systems, the personal computer software company that has the biggest-selling package in Japan with the Ichi Taroo Japanese language word processor, and has also scored with a graphics package, Hanako, both for the NEC PC9801 series, is hoping for a third strike with Atok, an automatic Japanese language conversion program: it spins out the conversion function used in both the other progams, and provides a Japanese language interface for Microsoft’s Multiplan; Just hopes that it will become the standard user interface – each piece of local hardware currently has a unique set of operations for entering and maintaining Japanese language text and data.
