JoyentCloud, a provider of cloud computing software and services, and New Relic, a software-as-a-service provider of application performance management offerings, have introduced new Relic RPM Bronze as a free service to JoyentCloud customers.

The new Relic RPM enables developers to see inside their running applications while in production, at the transaction level, to identify and mitigate potential issues before they lead to scalability or performance problems.

The company said the offering also allows organisations in developing and deploying services across multiple languages on JoyentCloud SmartMachines to monitor and troubleshoot their business-critical PHP, Ruby, Java and .NET web applications.

The cloud hosting platform provides performance infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service offerings for gaming, entertainment and media, e-commerce and mobile applications, the company said.

Joyent general manager of the JoyentCloud business Steve Tuck said that by providing their customers with visibility and control of their web applications is fundamental to successful and scalable growth.

"In just the gaming vertical alone, JoyentCloud serves more than 30 million users across thousands of online games and our understanding of scalable architectures, coupled with application optimisation tools like New Relic RPM, are why games on Joyent can quickly ramp to millions of monthly-active-users with no costly downtime," Tuck said.
