Janam Technologies, a provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, has said that Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP), a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety, has chosen Janam’s XM66 for use by all officers in the Patrol’s 37 statewide duty locations.
Janam’s XM66 is a rugged PDA-style mobile computer which is designed for use in tough environments such as multiple drops to concrete surfaces, withstands exposure to temperature extremes and moisture and is certified for use in hazardous locations.
Trafrec, a vendor in delivering law enforecement offerings, provides each NHP officer with XM66, a standard AC adapter, a vehicle charging offering and desktop cradle.
The Janam mobile computer, which features a 3.5" display and weighs less than 10 ounces, is used for scanning 2D barcodes which are now on all Nevada driver licenses and most vehicle registrations.
Using the device’s Bluetooth connection, a ticket is printed on a Zebra mobile printer and handed to the motorist, the company said.
Trafrec CEO Zeeshan Muhammad said it was important to provide hardware that is easy to use, technically advanced, efficient, rugged and reliable, and that Janam’s devices easily meet these requirements.
