Information and communications technology (ICT) applications provider Huawei has launched a new LTE TDD wireless backhaul application, eRelay to meet small cell transmission challenges.

Formulation of the eRelay was based on the analysis of micro base station deployments and the new application simplifies the transmission of resources when small cells are deployed.

The LTE TDD wireless backhaul application utilises SingleRAN’s unified hardware platform, advanced LTE technology, 256 high-order QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) and MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology and provides enhanced bandwidth and transmission capacity.

Huawei eRelay is an application that works the same way as microwave transmissions. It uses NLOS (Non-Line of Sight) transmission and supports PtMP (Point-to-Multipoint) transmission.

Huawei LTE TDD&WiMAX&TDS Wireless Networks president Deng Taihua said, "eRelay solves problems associated with transmission constraints, promotes small cell deployment, improves capacity for hotspot areas and ultimately improves user experience."
